How Can Tinnitus be treated effectively ?

As a tinnitus sufferer, not a day goes by without me asking myself this question.” Can tinnitus be treated effectively so that I can live as “normal” a life as possible? Can tinnitus be treated effectively?

A lot of us wake up every day with this constant buzzing, hissing , whistling roaring noises of tinnitus.

At times the “spikes” get so bad, that we may cry out of frustration and cannot even get a decent slept. It can go as far as hearing heartbeats in your ear or experience feelings of fullness.

It can drive one to feeling anxious and depressed.

I personally have had these days and in these times, it can be pretty rough.

Support and Understanding is a Blessing

Having a person by your side who understands what you are going through is extremely beneficial. This is especially helpfull, if you are a tinnitus sufferer. The main reason I say this, is that on the outside, things may seem to be fine, but on the inside there is a constant storm or battle that rages on…

The fact that there is no cure for tinnitus, is the very reason that we need someone in our corner, as we face it day in and day out.

It cannot be emphasized enough, as to how much power this support or help offers.

It’s shocking to see that almost three years have gone by, with me having to endure the everlasting noises in my head. Within this timeframe, I have cut down more than 70% of watching TV, going to the cinemas or even listening to my Michael Jackson music. In addition, I also tend to shun away from social gatherings or meetings. Can tinnitus be treated effectively

I think that I am one of the luckiest guys around to have such an understanding wife. As I reflect back within this period,I realize that the sacrifices have been shared and endured by my partner as well. Just looking at what she has done, has made me feel that, I truly am blessed.

I have heard stories where partners tell the one who is suffering from tinnitus, “Its just all in your head, just get over it!!

Sadly, its a reality that not everyone can fully comprehend with regards to what is actually happening to the person that has tinnitus.

How does the support actually benefit you?

I believe as human beings, we are created within the image of love and need love to survive and thrive. Can tinnitus be treated effectively

Having received this support from another, is an extension of love.

It simply shows you that someone cares and wants to be there to see you through it. Despite all the materialistic things we can accomplish and the money that we can make, none of these things can reciprocate that support and care.

These are some of the benefits that having a good support structure offers :

  • You don’t feel alone– Already that takes some pressure off your shoulders.
  • You don’t feel like you are going crazy – Tinnitus is very real. The last thing that any tinnitus sufferer wants to hear is that,” Its all in your Mind.”
  • It Gives YOU HOPE. – This pushes you to move on.
  • YOU DON’T GIVE UP– Especially when the days are tough, you’ve got a way to let it all out. Discuss or vent it out( without breaking anything, of course!!) From personal experience, it helps to just throw it out into the open from time to time. Not only will it make you feel better after letting it all go, but sometimes your support structure will actually tell you something at that point that will calm you down or  even enlighten you.(Kudos again to my wife)

How to get in-touch?

These days things are moving fast and the ‘communication and technology’ pair seem to be ever so advancing. From my school days of not having the “luxury” of owning a mobile phone, today everyone, including school kids have mobile phones. Some, have not one but two in their possession!

My point here is that it is much easier now, to get in touch with one another, so we should use this to our advantage.

Especially when we want to find people who can help or support us with our tinnitus.

One avenue of support for your tinnitus is this website. I have developed it with the intention and core purpose, of not just discussing the latest trends or news around tinnitus, but also for this site to bring tinnitus sufferers together.

To get us all chatting and discussing the problems. To give hope and offer different ideas and get things going.

So, please people, do comment below and let’s get this chat rolling. I would like it to be as interactive as possible.

The next suggestion that I have is support forums. I have personally joined a face book support forum called “Tinnitus Sufferers.”

It’s a closed group, but you can easily asked to be invited and within no time, you will become a member.

I have found this group to be highly informative and supportive. I have made lots of friends here and learned alot from this group.

I am also grateful that I have had the opportunity to help others out via this site. This is the magic part and is truly heart warming and satisfying.

Getting through it together….

At the end of the day, tinnitus should not be the focal point. In fact, I believe the point is to focus on your life and don’t let things stop you from living.

Its strange, but there is always a reason as to why things are happening. We may not understand it at this point in time. But maybe it might make sense later. Until then, there is only one question that I have to ask you

    Hi Roopesh

It is sad to hear about your story with Tinnitus. I also suffer with a chronic lung disease called Bronchiectasis where the damage to your lungs is permanent. People that do not have this disease do not have a clue how it feels.

When you meet other people that have the same condition as you, then it can make a huge impact on your willpower to stand up in the mornings.

      Hi Viljoen

      Thank you for your emphathy.

I have heard about this condition you suffer from, but I don’t know much.I am equally sorry to hear about you having it.

You are so right, when you say that having people that have the same condition as yourself will be able to better understand, what you are going through.

Furthermore, it’s gives you the drive and motivation to move on.

Thank you for sharing and take care of yourself.

      Regards

I feel your pain I had tintulus! it did not come on all the time or every day.

It used to come on once a month or twice at the most, it was always in a public place and I had to disappear for 20-30 minutes as me grab my head and pulling faces wasn’t pleasant for any one.

I could claw the insides of my ear out or cut it off as it drove me insane, Cant you what I did to get rid but it just went over time and completely forgot about until I seen this post

Hope your readers find a way to cure it its worse than a toothache

      Hi Steven

Thanks for sharing. I am glad to hear that yours had not been as bad. It really does take the strength out of you and is frustrating to say the least.

I too hope and pray that many sufferers out there find an easier way to live with this.

      Regards

      Roopesh
